WHO CAN QUALIFY FOR THE PUNA OFFERING?
There are two offerings in Puna - one home to be built on a Habitat lot in Mountain View and five two bedroom, one bath homes that will be built on Habitat lots in Nanawale.  The home in Mountain View will be a HPM/Habitat model home and the five two-bedroom homes in Nanawale will be from HPM Building Supply's Hale Plus modular home line. Applicants are chosen using these criteria:
     1)  Must be a Hawaii Island resident that lost primary home or rental because of the Kilauea Eruption in 2018
     2)  Family size must meet Habitat guidelines of occupancy 
     3)  Must have a stable income and a reasonable credit history, with no outstanding judgments.  Must also have adequate income to cover taxes, utilities, insurance and maintenance expenses as well as the mortgage payment.  Gross earnings must be between 30% and 100% of current US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) median income.  Habitat will request verification of your financial information in the next
phase of the application process.  Habitat will take into consideration income for everyone in the household.​
     ​4)  Partnership includes completing approved pre and post sweat equity hours (500+ hours for a new house), agreeing to the house that Habitat is able to provide inclusive of design, type, style, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, etc., making timely payments, adequately maintaining the house and property, and cooperating so that the house can be completed in a timely manner from the start date.
