ReStore Assistant Manager

JOB SUMMARY
The intent of this position is to provide world class customer service to all ReStore customers. Responsibilities include creating feature displays that maximize gross margin dollars, using visual merchandising presentations to drive sales, maintaining pricing accuracy to prevent waste, and maintaining ordering for maximum sales potential. Directly reporting to the Assistant ReStore Manager are the ReStore Associates, Driver, and Backroom Receiving Associate. The Assistant ReStore Manager is responsible for setting standards, training, and evaluating all direct reports.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Ensure customer care and selling are #1 priority of all ReStore staff and volunteers
• Know the store, services and location of merchandise. Tour area of responsibility and prioritize jobs that need to be completed.
• Understand financials for the business including sales, gross margin and waste.
• Arrive on time, in appropriate dress code..
• Have a strong understanding of precise register functions, including how to process all transactions and forms of tender. Ensure Cash Register is run quickly and efficiently
• Be prepared to serve the customer with a positive attitude at all times.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Make eye contact, smile and greet all customers that come within 10 feet. Demonstrate “take the customer to the merchandise” policy. Assist staff and volunteers in handling and solving customer needs, issues or complaints.
• Utilize available reporting to help maximize sales and reduce shrink.
• Demonstrate strong skill set in suggestive selling techniques.
• Ensure that promotional materials are signed, maintained and replenished
• Check old/dated merchandise weekly and ensure that items are properly ticketed.
• Meet or exceed the daily and weekly sales goals established for the store
• Use visual merchandising presentation to drive sales and maximize sales.
• Understand and teach the importance of pricing accuracy.
• Work with the ReStore Director to prominently display merchandise for maximum sales results.
• Keep up to date on product knowledge, trends and seasonality that impacts assortment and merchandising. Ensure this information is passed along to staff and volunteers
• Assist in training fellow associates and ensure completion of compliance training of associates. Use the 4-Step process to train associates: Tell, Show, Watch and Support.
• Set goals for associates and hold team accountable.
• Give clear direction on prioritized tasks for associates.
• Research and follow basic and seasonal layouts
• Understand how to merchandise appropriately with low, medium and high inventory levels
• Assist with training and development of Restore volunteer staffing
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• 1-2 years of related experience
• 18 years of age or older
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Strong reading, writing, verbal, and arithmetic skills..
• Ability to lift and move merchandise, typically a minimum of 20lbs., but could be as much as 100lbs.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to withstand repetitive bending, lifting, stretching and reaching.
• Positive and friendly demeanor.
• Ability to be cross trained.
• Computer knowledge of Word/Excel

RESPONSIBILITIES
The ReStore Sales Associate is responsible for contributing to daily operation of sales, customer service, and receiving and processing of donations.
Operations and Sales
■ Open, close and operate cash register, credit card machine.
■ Implement customer service procedures including greeting and directing customers to the appropriate area, responding to customer inquiries, answering and processing phone calls in the appropriate manner, and all other items related to customer service issues.
■ Demonstrate basic understanding of retail operations including, but not limited to customer service, product display, organization and pricing.
■ Work closely with the ReStore Managers in communicating immediate needs or scheduling concerns.
■ Maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, Habitat homeowners and the public.
■ Understand and be able to communicate ReStore policies and procedures.
■ Operate office equipment, including answering machines, copiers, facsimiles, telephones and calculators.
■ Coordinate and supervise the training of sales, front desk and cashier volunteers.

■ One year in retail sales preferred.

■ Ability to spend the majority of the day standing or moving about the store.
■ Ability to lift 50lbs
