​HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HAWAII ISLAND RECEIVES FUNDING FOR
​CRITICAL HOME REPAIR FROM LOWES INTERNATIONAL

Kailua Kona, Hawaii, December 27, 2022 – Sandy, a resident from Kona faced a major hurdle – she needed to replace her roof or she wouldn’t be able to get homeowner’s insurance. Through the generous funding from Lowes International, Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island was able to replace her 30+ year old roof and solar hot water system. Sandy could now get her home insured.
For nearly two decades, Habitat for Humanity International and Lowe’s have worked together to build and improve safe, decent and healthy homes around the world. Today, Lowe’s and Habitat announced a renewed focus of their partnership to support home repair and rehab projects undertaken by local Habitat for Humanity organizations across the U.S. 
“Lowe’s has partnered with us on different projects here on Hawaii Island and have made an impact in our community,” said Patrick Hurney, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island. “We are grateful for this generous grant and Lowe’s continued support of our efforts to help families have a safe and decent place to live.”

​Hawaii Island, September 2022 - A big mahalo to First Hawaiian Bank for their partnership to support affordable housing on Hawai'i Island. This grant of $20,000 towards our ReStores Build Homes campaign will help make vital improvements to our three Hawai'i Island ReStores and help support our mission of ensuring everyone has a safe and affordable place to live. ​

WOMEN BUILD 2022

​Hawaii Island, February 16, 2021 - Each year, Women Build engages, mobilizes, trains, and empowers women leaders. Women have come together in 650 communities in the U.S. to build homes, communities, and hope. This year, teams of inspiring and engaged women on Hawai’i Island will work together to raise funds and build homes in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Hawai’i Island. The event begins with a special “Holoholo with Habitat” Women Build Scavenger Hunt, followed by coordinated Build Days on one of several Habitat for Humanity build sites around Hawai’i Island. Women Build offers an opportunity for women of all skill levels to step up, dig in, hammer nails, and promote the positive impact of women leadership in our communities.

APPLICATIONS NOW AVAILABLE FOR VETERANS IN NEED OF
​CRITICAL HOME REPAIRS

Hawaii Island, February 7, 2022 –  Know of any veterans on Hawaii Island in need of help with home repairs?  Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island may be able to help them.
WHO QUALIFIES?

1. Program is for veterans whose primary residence is on Hawaii Island.
2. Must own the home.
3. Family Income must be 80% or less of HUD’s current median income.​ 

The home must be a permitted structure and the applicant intends to stay in this home for at least 5 years after the repair and modification has been completed.  Only repairs and modifications necessary to alleviate health and safety concerns will be considered.  Cost for any work done may be waived or discounted depending if the applicant’s housing cost is more or less than 30% of his/her income during any month.
