"Women Empowering One Another. Transforming Lives."

Since 2008, Habitat for Humanity and Lowes Home Improvement have partnered for a weeklong event that invites women (and men) to help families build strength, stability and independence through housing, and celebrates female empowerment and leadership. This partnership has offered opportunities to 17,000 women and has built and repaired 5,756 homes.
As a proud recipient of Habitat for Humanity International and Lowes Partnership 2021 International Women Week grant, Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island's has consulted Hawaiian language and cultural experts to develop a theme which we hope embodies the spirit of women in our local community:
"Nā wahine e ho’omana nei kekahi i kekahi. Ho’ololi ‘ana i nā Ola."
which means in ‘Ōlelo/Hawaiian "Women empowering one another. Transforming lives."
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
The first step of your Virtual Volunteer Experience is when you enroll and inscribe your own heartfelt message on a 2x4 for one of our partner families - either in one of our ReStores or online at habitathawaiiisland.org/2021WomenBuild. This "stud-a-thon" is a fun way that you can support 2021 Women Build, with or without any virtual participation! You can sponsor a "stud" - a 2x4 framing lumber that is - for as little as $24 OR donate enough studs for 100' of wall for one of our partner families' new Habitat home! As a Virtual Volunteer, you will be able to inscribe a heartfelt message on a stud, in-person at one of our ReStores March 4-6th & 9-10th, or virtually - one of our volunteers will inscribe it for you.
Once you have enrolled as a Virtual Volunteer, watch your email inbox for exclusive invites to our LIVE! Virtual Volunteer Sessions March 11-13th, hosted by Habitat for Humanity Hawai'i Island staff, and featuring special interviews with homeowner families, volunteers, board members and more. Learn about housing issues and how to advocate for affordable housing, Habitat for Humanity's #CostofHome campaign to promote housing affordability, compete in fun challenges for prizes, and build your mindset with influential women leaders and community changemakers in our special Hawai'i Island Women in Leadership: #ManaWahineTalks - featuring special guests (to be announced).
